A six-year-old boy was seriously injured after a teacher threw him off the roof of a private school for not completing his homework in Bihar's East Champaran district, police said on Friday, adding that the accused teacher has been arrested.
According to the police, the incident took place at a primary school in the Bazaar area of Kalyanpur in the district when a six-year-old student failed to complete the homework assigned by his teacher on Thursday. "The enraged teacher beat up the student, took him to the roof and threw him down," a police official said.
The child's uncle claimed that his nephew was tortured by a teacher for not completing his homework. "He had stick marks on his body. You just know what you've been through," said the uncle.
The child is currently receiving treatment. Police said they have arrested one teacher while another remains at large.
